I’m excited to offer a new option for my in-home creative play workshops in and around Ottawa: how to wrap rocks!
What’s a creative play workshop party? You get together with a few of your friends and gather around your kitchen table. If you like, you can provide some snacks and drinks – maybe a glass of wine or two! – and I provide the rest. Spend a few hours working together on a crafty activity, learning how to do something fun and creative. I provide the supplies, the ideas and the guidance.
There is something magical about working with your hands while gathered with friends. There is always laughter, conversation and a little alchemy. And you end the night with a new skill, maybe a new creative hobby you’d like to explore. Or at the very least, at the end of the night you made a thing!

In this in-person workshop, we’ll learn how to do simple rock wrapping. We can focus on weaving on a rock using embroidery floss, or we can focus on wrapping rocks with cords, string and yarn. We’ll learn the basic techniques of how to wrap a rock without knots or glue to secure the ends, and show you how to use tools you probably already have to make rock wrapping easy.
I’ll give you lots of tips on how to keep learning new wraps so you can explore on your own after the workshop, and how to use upcycled and recycled materials to keep the cost of crafting down. If you have a favourite rock (and who doesn’t have a favourite rock!) bring it along and I’ll show you how to evaluate whether it’s a good rock for wrapping or if it will be more complicated.

The cost for a rock wrapping workshop is $50 per person and includes all materials. The workshops are approximately 2 hours long. All we need is a flat surface to spread out, like a kitchen table, and enough chairs for everyone. This workshop is ideal for 3 to 6 participants. I will travel to any home or location within the city of Ottawa.
