Adults don’t play enough. Let’s change that!
What’s a creative play workshop? It’s a fun, intimate gathering of you and a few friends, where you make a beautiful thing or explore a creative idea. Think of it like paint nite at the pub, but in the comfort of your own home around the kitchen table with a handful of friends. I’ll bring all the supplies you need and give coaching on how to make the craft. For tarot parties, I’ll either give everyone personal readings, or give a basic tarot lesson to the group. You supply the location, the curiosity and sense of creative adventure, and maybe a few snacks, and leave the rest to me!
These workshops were inspired by countless folks I saw in forums who wanted to try something new but didn’t know where to start. And even after they had purchased all the supplies they needed, they were still seeking something: the permission to try. That’s what these workshops will provide. In addition to supplies and guidance, you’ll receive permission to try something new and fun. You don’t need to be creative (but I assure you: you are.)
I’m not an expert felting or sea glass wrapping or tarot or any of the subjects I share. I’m just wildly, passionately curious, and I love to share. I’ve learned enough to get you started on your journey, so you too can explore and discover and be amused by where your curiosity leads you. These workshops are about taking the time to play and the delicious satisfaction of making a thing, but they’re also about social downtime with friends, about that special magic that happens when you work on something with people who have common interests.
Unless otherwise stated, workshops have a minimum number of 4 participants. The ideal group size is 4 – 10, depending on your space. All supplies are provided.
“I have no special talent. I am only passionately curious.”
~ Albert Einstein (and also me!)

Wait, I have questions!
Fantastic! Questions mean your curiosity is piqued.
If you don’t find answers below, email me at dani@curiouscrone.ca and we can chat!
Where do you hold the workshops?
At your place! No need to go out into the cold, share your space with strangers or find a parking space. Invite a few friends over for a friendly gathering and add a fun workshop to keep everybody engaged and playing together. I’m located in Ottawa, Ontario but feel free to fly me to your remote seaside castle or bustling Parisian atelier – I love to travel! 😉
What do I need to provide?
As host, you need to invite a few friends and provide a table and chairs big enough so everyone can sit and work together. The average kitchen or dining room table is perfect. Snacks are nice, booze is optional, although please note that craft supplies and drinking can lead to unexpected and not always welcome results.
I have no idea how to do this thing / I am an expert in this thing. Is that alright?
Yes! All skill levels are welcome. I love to learn from the curious and creative impulses of others. Working with others and seeing what they create is also a wonderful source of inspiration.
What is your background / training / expertise in this?
I am not an expert or a master craftsperson. But I am really good at wondering and being curious, and also at teaching and facilitating. These workshops are about exploring creativity in a fun and safe environment. I’ll show you the basics and provide the supplies and get you started, then you do the rest.
Can you lead a workshop for a bigger group?
These particular workshops are idea for small groups, usually 10 people or less. For a larger group, contact me at dani@curiouscrone.ca to discuss your needs and I’ll try my best to accommodate you.
Do you do children’s parties or can children attend?
These workshops are geared for adults. Some supplies, such as felting needles or tarot cards, can be sharp and need to be handled with care. Suggested minimum age is 10 years old. Email me at dani@curiouscrone.ca to discuss this in more detail.
Is this good for girls’ night out, stag and doe parties, birthday parties or other special occasions?
Absolutely! All you need to supply is a location with a big table and enough chairs. This is a great way to get together with colleagues outside of the office, to celebrate a milestone, or even for families to work on a crafting or tarot adventure together. The pricing structure may change for groups larger than 10 participants though – please email me at dani@curiouscrone.ca to discuss.
Do you recommend this as a corporate team-building activity?
Some of the crafting activities make great icebreakers or team-building activities for corporate events. Activities can be scaled down to a minimum time of an hour. Please email me at dani@curiouscrone.ca to discuss options.
About deposits and payments
The price per participant is noted in the individual workshop blocks above. A deposit of $50 is required when you book to reserve your time and date. Payment in full is required before we start the workshop. Pay by cash, PayPal or interac transfer.
A special note about timing
This crone is an early bird and turns into a pumpkin if we run our session too late. Please be prepared to end the workshop part of your event by 9:30 pm, but of course carry on the merriment without me. Events may be scheduled as early as sunrise, though – I’ll be awake!
