Do you love rocks? I love rocks too! I love finding rocks, collecting rocks, cleaning my rocks up and admiring them. And now, I love turning them into works of art through the tactile craft of rock wrapping.
What is rock wrapping? Rock wrapping is a meditative craft that combines the elemental beauty of nature with the creative touch of human hands. It adopts and adapts techniques taken from knot making, basketry, macramé and other art forms to make something unique. It’s an accessible craft requiring tools and supplies you may already have on hand, and you don’t need any special experience to begin wrapping rocks.

Not only do I love wrapping rocks, but I love sharing this hobby with others. When I first started rock wrapping, I couldn’t find any tutorials or written explanations aside from some videos on YouTube. So I wrote a few blog posts, and those were so well-received that I knew I wanted to do more. I’ve spent my career creating clear, accessible educational content for adults. I’m also a professional writer and a professional photographer.
How to Wrap Rocks: A book!
So I pulled all those skills together with my passion for rock wrapping and weaving on rocks to write my first book, a book called How To Wrap Rocks. It’s a 54 page field guide sized book that explains the art and techniques of rock wrapping. In addition to information about the tools and supplies you need and an introduction to the basic process of wrapping rocks, it also has detailed step-by-step instructions for 3 unique rock-wrapping projects. And there are links to exclusive videos demonstrating each project. It has hundreds of full-colour photographs and diagrams, plus ideas and inspiration on how to take the techniques learned in each project to the next level.

How to order How to Wrap Rocks
How to Wrap Rocks is available as a PDF download or as a softcover book.
Option 1 Digital download eBook: If you’re looking for instant gratification, you can get a PDF digital download of the How to Wrap Rocks eBook on Etsy. You’ll be able to download it to any device or even print your own copy at home.
Option 2 Trade paperback book: If you would like a trade paperback softcover printed version of the book, you have two choices depending on where you live (thanks to confusing tariff rules):
- If you live in Canada or anywhere else outside of the USA, you can order a paperback copy via Etsy.
- If you live in the USA, you can order a paperback copy via Blurb.com.
Shipping of the paperback version can take from one to three weeks, depending on where you live. If you live in Ottawa, Ontario, reach out and we can discuss free local pickup or delivery.

Why so many options? I wanted to create something that was accessible and affordable, so I created the PDF eBook and listed it on Etsy. To my delight, How to Wrap Rocks became an instant Etsy bestseller! A lot of folks told me that they would prefer a tangible copy of the book, rather than a downloadable eBook, so I started looking into options.
I was originally going to create and print a stack for myself and fulfil printed book orders via Etsy, but I’m in Canada and Etsy has cut off shipping to customers based in the USA due to tariff uncertainty. But when I looked into print on demand from a Canadian perspective, the shipping costs were outrageous. So I had to find separate solutions for folks who live in the USA and us Canadians and folks who live anywhere else in the world. I think I’ve got options for everyone now!
