Rock wrapping is a meditative craft that combines the elemental beauty of nature with the creative touch of human hands. It adopts and adapts techniques taken from knot making, basketry, macramé and other art forms to make something unique. It’s an accessible craft requiring tools and supplies you may already have on hand, and you don’t need any special experience to begin wrapping rocks.

If you live in the Ottawa area, join me on March 28 for an in-person workshop where I will show you how to wrap rocks. We’ll talk about what makes a good rock for wrapping, and what makes good wrapping material. For this session, everything will be provided to complete one wrapped rock, but you’ll leave with ideas and inspiration to make many more designs of your own. Feel free to bring a few of your favourite rocks to see if they are good candidates for rock wrapping.

You do not need to be a member of the Ottawa Valley Weavers and Spinners Guild to attend this workshop, but if you are interested at all in fibre crafts, they’ve been an excellent place to learn and connect with other fibre junkies and you may find a membership worthwhile!
