It’s been a delightful adventure in the year since I conceptualized and launched the idea that has become The Curious Crone, a space to explore creative pursuits around tarot, photography, fibre, fabric, and a plethora of other things. It started with instagram, and the website and YouTube have since followed.
I’ve hosted tarot parties and crafting workshops, and participated in a local craft fair. I’ve taken workshops on making felted slippers and a felted hat and dyeing protein fibre after joining the local spinners and weavers (and felters!) guild. I’ve taken workshops on creating a fabric vessel, exploring colour and weaving without using a loom. I’ve taken sewing lessons with a local seamstress. I’ve watched what must be approximately 1000 hours of tutorials on YouTube and Instagram on everything from cordage to basket weaving to wire wrapping. I’ve shot hours of video and taken thousands of photos, a lot of which has been shared on Instagram but most of which is still just on my phone.
And I’ve only been able to get here to the blog to talk about a small part of all that, because creating content about crafting is so much more time consuming than actual crafting! So that’s the idea behind this new feature, the curiosity journal. This is a spot to stash the links I’m collecting as I find them, a sort of personal pinterest board and notebook of where my curiosity leads me and what I think when I get there. Not the polished discourse in sum of the findings, but the initial thoughts.
Happy first birthday to the Curious Crone!
