Had a most magical evening doing tarot readings for the phenomenal @noelennoir masquerade ball at @lebelvedereweddings this week. Incredible venue, fantastic people, and I did so many readings that I lost my voice. What a whimsical, playful evening it was. The more tarot events that I do, the more I feel like I’ve found my niche!

Today I realized that I am far more comfortable and adept reading the diagram chart (bottom triangle) for a cable pattern than reading the text version, which I thought would be easier. 🤷🏻‍♀️ If you’re a knitter who makes cables, how do you prefer to follow a pattern?

I’ve recently had a bit of an ‘a-ha!’ moment

I’ve recently had a bit of an ‘a-ha!’ moment when I realized that one of the things I love most about crafting is the problem solving. Each wrapped rock is a bit of a puzzle - which rock to use, what elements to wrap around it, which design to riff off of. Then there are little obstacles to overcome - but they’re solvable puzzles. And then when you’ve worked out the puzzle, you have a tangible thing, a pretty thing, to admire. What’s not to like about that process?

Friends who understand your idiosyncrasies and lov

Friends who understand your idiosyncrasies and love you anyway are a rare gift. Those who love you and FEED your idiosyncrasies are true gems in this world. My friend Angela noticed my other friend Yvonne collecting these old rusty stakes out of the Restigouche River in NB when they were kayaking together this summer. Yvonne was being a citizen environmentalist, removing trash from the river, but Angela insisted that Yvonne bring them back home to me to mine their potential as crafting supplies. Well spotted Angela!

I’ve been sitting on them for a while wondering what magic they might become when this rock presented itself to me. Ah, there we go! This wrapped rock brought to you by three friends, two rivers in two different provinces, and some recycled yarn and cord. I can only imagine where the rusty stakes came from but I have a whole baggy more left to imagine with!! 😂
